Heparin Antibody Test

An enzyme linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA) using a complex of heparin and Platelet Factor 4 (PF4) is used to capture antibody developed during type II Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT).

  • Tests Performed: Platelet Factor 4 ELISA only
  • Test Type: Indirect
  • Sample Required: 5cc Citrate (light blue tube)
  • Analytic Time: 1 Day
  • Send whole blood, room temperature. (NOTE: Samples for the HIT test can be sent over the weekend (Friday after noon to Sunday night). If sending over the weekend, spin and freeze plasma at -20°C then send frozen on dry ice.
