Platelet Alloantibody Workup (Advanced)

If a patient fails to respond to HLA-selected community donors, further testing may be required. An advanced workup may include a class I HLA antibody identification and a platelet antibody assay. Further antibody identification may be required using a platelet specific assay (MAIPA).

This test cannot be requested until after the Platelet Alloantibody Workup (Basic) test has been performed.

  • Tests Performed: LAT (Class I); Flow cytometry; PAK-12G, RFLP, or MAIPA (if warranted)
  • Test Type: Indirect
  • Samples Required: 10cc ACD tube (light yellow top) and lOcc clot tube (red top)
  • Analytic Time: 1-3 Days
