| Compatibility Testing Laboratory
The centralized compatibility testing laboratories perform almost 190,000 crossmatch procedures annually.
Hemostasis Reference Laboratory
The Hemostasis Laboratory evaluates bleeding disorders for patients referred from community hospitals and clinics in Western Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. DNA testing for hemophilia A and B is performed here for patients nationwide. This well-recognized lab has saved many lives over 25 years of service providing quality hemostasis evaluations including testing, interpretation of results and patient evaluations.
Immunogenetics Laboratory
This laboratory provides human leukocyte antigen (HLA) typing, antibody screening and lymphocyte crossmatching services. These tests are required for patients undergoing evaluation for organ transplantation and for patients requiring matched platelet transfusions. DNA HLA typing is performed to support immunotherapy vaccine trials in Seattle.
Platelet Immunology Laboratory
The Platelet Immunology Laboratory was established over 20 years ago in response to the need to identify and characterize antibodies in patients who develop an immunity to transfused platelets. The lab's role is to identify and characterize antibodies with the goal of identifying compatible donors so that effective transfusion therapy may continue.
Red Cell Reference Laboratory
The Red Cell Reference Laboratory performs routine red blood cell antibody identification - and special typing when transfusion patients require more closely matched blood transfusion therapy. More than 26,400 tests are performed annually in this lab.
Virology/Donor Testing Laboratory
This laboratory (also known as the "Donor Testing Laboratory") employs a large, proficient staff of technical and support personnel for the preparation and testing of donor and non donor blood. |
