This test is an enzyme immunoassay for the qualitative determination of Hepatitis B Virus in human serum or plasma. The screen includes confirmation by neutralization, if the result is reactive.
Sample Required: Clear, nonhemolyzed serum or plasma, 7 ml clot preferred.
Serum collected in BD (Becton Dickinson) Vacutainer Serum Separator Tubes is not acceptable for this assay as false positive results may result.
Samples may be stored at 2-8°C. Samples frozen at -15°C or colder are also acceptable.
Lipemic, icteric, or hemolyzed samples generally give consistent test results.
Cadaveric samples, samples from heparinized patients, and samples containing precipitate may give inconsistent results.
Heat inactivated samples are unacceptable for testing.
