The RIBA HCV strip immunoblot assay is a qualitative enzyme immunoblot assay for the detection of antibodies to individual proteins encoded by the hepatitis C virus (HCV) in human serum or plasma. This assay is performed only on samples reactive for anti-HCV by the screening test.
- Sample Required: Clear, nonhemolyzed serum or plasma, 7 ml clot preferred.
Samples may be stored at 2-8°C up to 7 days. Samples frozen at -10°C or colder within this 7 day period are also acceptable for testing.
Heat inactivated samples are unacceptable for testing.
- Expected Results: Nonreactive, Indeterminate, Positive
- Testing and Reporting: Results are generally available in 14 days.
