Human T-Cell Lymphotropic Virus Type I/II Antibody Confirmatory

This test is an immunoflouresence assay to confirm the presence of antibodies to HTLV-I and/or HTLV-II in samples found to be repeatedly reactive by the HTLV-I/HTLV-II immunoassay.

  • Sample Required: Clear, nonhemolyzed serum or plasma, 7 ml clot preferred. Serum from serum separator tubes is not acceptable.

    Serum from serum separator tube cannot be used for confirmatory.

    Samples may be stored at 2-8°C for a maximum of 14 days. Samples frozen at -10°C during this period are acceptable for testing.

    Samples containing precipitate may give inconsistent results.

    Performance has not been established on cadaveric samples.

    Heat inactivated samples or samples with obvious microbial contamination are unacceptable for testing.

  • Expected Results: Negative, Indeterminate, or Positive for antibodies to HTLV-I and/or HTLV-II.
  • Testing and Reporting: Results are generally available in 2-6 weeks.
