News & Events | Hope Uncorked! A Tasteful Event

Puget Sound Blood Center’s inaugural wine tasting, Hope Uncorked!, was a big success. Thanks to the guests, the volunteers, and the generous wineries who donated their wine and their time, the event exceeded expectations and raised more than $17,000 for the Blood Center’s new thrombosis research center. We’d especially like to thank Kathleen Summers, who dedicated so much of her own time and resources to ensure this event’s success, and our sponsors Leslie Giblett, Italianissimo Ristorante, Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals, and Kathleen and Jon Summers.

Nearly 100 guests attended the wine tasting and silent auction at Bear Creek Country Club. Presenting wineries included Brian Carter Cellars, Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery, Harlequin Cellars, Hollywood Hills Winery, and O Wines. Guests sipped and mingled while bidding fiercely over a small silent auction. Some of the hottest auction items included a selection of the Board of Trustees’ favorite wines, a collector’s case of Silver Oak Cellars cabernet sauvignon, and a sunset wine tasting cruise with the Blood Center’s President and CEO, Dr. Jim AuBuchon.

However, Hope Uncorked! was not just about food, wine, and mingling with friends. It was about joining a bigger cause to save lives. Through this event, generous supporters have invested in cutting edge research at the Blood Center to find a cure for thrombosis, unwanted blood clotting. Thrombosis is the leading cause of heart attack and stroke and kills 65 million people around the globe each year.

Puget Sound Blood Center is already a world leader in blood research, and with the help of our generous supporters, we are taking the next steps to save more lives.
