Faces for Life Gala Dinner and Auction

Gala Dancers Support Research
Saturday, March 6 proved to be an inspirational evening as Puget Sound Blood Center celebrated with approximately 300 of its biggest supporters at its Faces for Life Gala dinner and auction. The fundraiser for the Institute for Blood Clotting Research at the Blood Center raised over $315,000 along with awareness about the need for such a research institution. Blood clotting at the wrong time can lead to heart attack or stroke. With the new Research Institute, the Blood Center hopes to find treatments and cures that will save lives around the world.

Celebrating the Blood Center’s 65th anniversary, an exhibit of 65 Faces for Life patient stories was displayed for two weeks at Bellevue Square Mall. From those 65 stories, 12 local artists chose a story that spoke to them and created an original piece of artwork that was then auctioned off at the gala. From oil paintings to copper wire sculptures to native carvings – all forms of art were represented. Following the auction, emcee Patti Payne from the Puget Sound Business Journal invited everyone to stay for dancing, with music provided by the Craig Lawrence Band. Following are photos from the Faces for Life celebration.
