Swim for Life is a 2.5 mile swim across Lake Washington from Medina Beach to Madison Park Beach. You can swim as a team of four plus a kayaker or as an individual.
Participants will receive a commemorative swim gift. There will be prizes for the top fundraising team and the top fundraising individual.
Connect with swimmers and kayakers to form a team and share training tips on our Facebook page. You can find our fan page under the name Swim for Life – Seattle.
This year's Swim for Life will help fund the Bone Marrow Registry. Here at PSBC, we are raising funds to offset the costs for marrow donors to sign up. By increasing the number of people who join, we will increase the number of patients who find their lifesaving matches.

- Pace Time
This year, we have room for 100 teams (a kayaker and up to four swimmers). If you sign up as an individual swimmer, you will be paired with swimmers at a pace similar to yours. Make sure your 600-yard pace (approximately 1/3 mile) is realistic.
- Team Size
You can sign up a team with fewer than four swimmers—in fact, a swimmer wanting to cross solo could sign up as a team of one with a kayak—but teams of more than four swimmers are not allowed.
- Grouped Teams
If groups of more than four swimmers want to cross the lake together, they can sign up as multiple teams of four or fewer with a similar pace time. This will put them in the same start wave, and they can cross together.
- Reserving Your Spot
You do not have to have a full team to register. Once 100 teams have signed up, the only remaining sign-up option is to join an existing team of a similar pace that is still accepting extra swimmers.
- Getting a Kayaker
The event will not be supplying boats, although some kayakers sign up and asked to be placed with a team. We encourage you to find your own kayaker through friends or the Swim for Life Facebook page.
- Preparation
Some swimmers, especially those formed into teams by pace, find that getting together for an introductory group swim at least once before the event helps make the event enjoyable.
- Check-in opens at 6:30 AM
- Waves begin at 7:30 a.m. at Medina Beach
