Business Leaders and Celebrities Show Artistic Side to Support Puget Sound Blood Center

JUNE 19, 2000, SEATTLE — Local business leaders including Boeing's Phil Condit, Sleep Country USA's Sunny Kobe Cook and Chateau Ste. Michelle's Allen Shoup will grab a brush and don a smock to create works of art to be auctioned at a benefit for the Puget Sound Blood Center called "Faces for Life."

  • When: Monday, June 19 - 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
  • Where: Nordstrom Café at Bellevue Square

During tonight's reception/painting party, celebrity guests will each paint a design of their choice on large ceramic masks, to be auctioned at a gala in March, 2001. Celebrities from throughout the country also are creating masks for the fundraiser. Celebrity masks, including those created by Garth Brooks, Muhammed Ali and André Agassi, will be displayed at the event.

Funds raised will support Blood Center research programs such as the umbilical cord blood bank to benefit people with leukemia and other blood diseases, and the pancreatic islet program to help those with diabetes.
