FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Your help could save a life
APRIL 18, 2004 — On Saturday May 11, the Puget Sound Blood Center is holding a registration drive at the Sno-Valley Eagles Club to help find donors for those in need of lifesaving marrow transplants.
“We want to make local people aware of the need for donors and how each donor has the potential to save someone’s life,“ says Ronda Myers of the Eagles Club Auxiliary. “By registering, you open up the possibility of helping someone here in the Snoqualmie Valley or anywhere in the country.”
For those interested in learning more about the value and the process of marrow donation, the Auxiliary will also host an information session on April 28 at the Eagles Club. A Puget Sound Blood Center representative will be on hand to answer questions.
- When: Saturday, May 11, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Where: Sno-Valley Eagles Club, 8900 Railroad Ave., Snoqualmie
- When: Sunday, April 28, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- Where: Sno-Valley Eagles Club, 8900 Railroad Ave. Snoqualmie
Every year, thousands of adults and children need bone marrow transplants that may provide their only chance for survival. It’s the goal of the Registry of the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) to match those patients with donors.
Joining the Registry requires completion of a brief questionnaire and a small blood sample, which is sent to the NMDP for testing to determine tissue type. While registrants may not be matches for Valley patients, they might match others.
