Five Blood Center Branches Open on the Fourth

Be patriotic and help fellow citizens who need blood.

JUNE 29, 2005, SEATTLE WA — Fireworks, hot dogs, parades, U.S. history, American heroes – these are the memories of every Fourth of July. This year, add blood donation; it’s a way to serve the country by helping fellow Americans in your own community who depend on blood donations to survive.
During this Independence Day, a blood donation to Puget Sound Blood Center could save lives. What better way to celebrate?

“Donating blood takes only an hour of your time and has the potential to save up to three lives,” says Blood Center spokesman A.J. Pasquarelli. “And with so many people on the roads or engaged in sports and other summer activities, there’s likely to be an increased need for blood as well as fewer donors available to donate. That makes giving blood between July 1 and July 5 more important than ever.”
Since the holiday this year is on a Monday, the five Blood Center branches that are usually open on Mondays will be open for whole blood and apheresis collections on Monday, July 4, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Special treats will be served in the Blood Center canteen in recognition of the holiday. Bring a family member or a friend and make it possible to help up to six patients. Those interested in making a donation on the Fourth or before can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-398-7888. Blood Center locations open on July 4 are:
