FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JULY 29, 2005, SEATTLE WA —
As August approaches, many people attempt to squeeze in last minute projects and mini vacations before the summer’s end. It is fun to recapture summer highlights, which often evoke good feelings. Unfortunately though, the thought of the summer season coming to a close often dampens spirits. What a better way to overcome the summertime blues by making a difference in other peoples lives? With each blood donation, you can brighten the day by improving the health of up to three people.
That’s right, your gift to Puget Sound Blood Center, the world’s largest centralized blood transfusion service, will touch the lives of some of the half million people the Blood Center serves each year! This is made possible because of the selfless acts of donors like you and thousands of dedicated volunteers. As Blood Center spokesman Tom Butterworth notes, “By donating blood we are each given an opportunity to save another person’s life. So many great experiences happen to us during this time of year. Giving blood is yet another way to add meaning to your summer.”
You can make a difference! Every year, volunteer donors give about 200,000 units of blood to Puget Sound Blood Center. And 5,000 people volunteer their time to assist the Blood Center. Become a part of the largest volunteer organization in Washington State and sign up to donate or volunteer today!
Puget Sound Blood Center is independent, community-based and internationally recognized for its research, medical and blood and tissue services. If you can’t donate at a mobile blood drive, visit or contact one of the locations below or log on to www.psbc.org for more information.
