Five Blood Center Branches Open on Labor Day

Make the summer truly memorable: give blood the week before or during the holiday weekend

AUGUST 26, 2005, SEATTLE WA — Labor Day is slowly approaching, and that means that summertime is quickly fading away.

Sunny vacations, relaxing afternoons on the boat, pleasant days on the golf course or lazy hours by the pool all will soon be no more than lovely memories. But right now, there’s an opportunity to add another great summer memory – about the day you took the time to save a life.
By donating blood before or on Labor Day, you may very well be saving someone’s life. Remember, local patients always need blood, even on holidays.

And especially now, because blood supplies traditionally dwindle during summer when high school and college donors are on vacation, along with many other regular donors. To make matters worse, holiday traffic and increased outdoor activities result in a rise in traumatic injuries that require transfusions of blood components.

So, now is the time to create one final -- and lasting – memory of the season: give blood.
It’s the one thing you can do to ensure that someone else can look back fondly on this summer, and also look forward to more summers ahead.

The five Blood Center branches that are usually open on Mondays will be open for whole blood and apheresis collections on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Those interested in making a donation on or before the holiday can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-398-7888. Blood Center locations open on Labor Day are:
