Auburn High School Rallies to Save Lives

Blood Drive Record Holders Carry On the Tradition at this Year’s Drive

OCTOBER 19, 2005, SEATTLE WA —Drive, ambition, competitiveness and achievement are all attributes many of us hope apply to students in school. They certainly apply to the students of Auburn High School.
Last year the school set a Puget Sound Blood Center mobile blood drive record with the largest number of donations ever made in one day by a single organization. Enough blood was donated -- 476 units -- to potentially save the lives of 1,400 individuals. The school registered 915 donations over the entire year.
This year’s drive will be held in the school’s gym, known at “The Pit,” on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 from 8:00am to 2:00pm. The school expects another large group of students to participate, more than 300 students signed up to donate so far.

High schools in Western Washington provide approximately 16 percent of the community blood supply and help the Blood Center maintain one of the nation’s most stable blood supplies.

Media are welcome to attend the blood drive. Please check in at the school’s main office and you will be escorted to the drive location. Auburn High School is located at 800 4th St NE, Auburn.

Celebrating over 60 years of innovation, the Blood Center has a long and unique tradition of blending community volunteerism, medical science and research to improve patients’ lives. The Blood Center, which serves patients in more than 70 hospitals and clinics in 14 counties with blood services, provides tissue and transplantation support to 185 hospitals across the Northwest.
