About Donating Blood

  • Donate Blood
Every two minutes someone in Western Washington needs a blood transfusion. Help ensure this precious resource is available for ill and injured people in our community by giving blood through Puget Sound Blood Center.
  • Donate Platelets
Give platelets through apheresis and help supply the blood component that is needed by more patients than any other blood component.
  • Donate Apheresis Plasma
Plasma is frequently needed by trauma patients, burn victims and others fighting serious illness and injury. People with Type AB blood may donate plasma through a process called apheresis.
  • Double Red Cell Program
The Double Red Cell program allows you to give enough red blood cells for two transfusions in a single visit.

Special Programs

  • High School Partnership Program
The High School Partnership Program is an innovative public-private partnership between high schools, civic groups, and Puget Sound Blood Center. Its primary purpose is to provide recognition to high school blood donors and to nurture within young people a lifetime commitment to blood donation.
  • Perfect Match Program
For some patients in need of multiple transfusions, perfectly matched blood can help them avoid serious, possibly fatal, complications. As a person of color, your gift of blood is especially precious to those of similar heritage.
  • Blood Center Cord Blood Program
Expectant families in the Puget Sound area have an opportunity to potentially save the lives of patients worldwide, thanks to the Cord Blood Program at the Puget Sound Blood Center.
