Our Blood Research Saves Lives: Globally and Locally
In keeping with our mission of saving lives through research, the Puget Sound Blood Center (PSBC) Research Institute has developed a Strategic Plan to guide our efforts, link to our communities, increase focus on collaboration and position our growth as a world-class blood research institution.
Our Plan is to:
Over the next three to five years, the PSBC Research Institute will expand its research programs to address some of the most urgent needs in health care. Among them: thrombosis (blood clots), hemophilia therapies, and transfusion immunology.
Both academic and commercial partnerships are critically important to the achievement of our mission. PSBC and the University of Washington have been formally affiliated for more than 60 years. We will strengthen our relationships and actively pursue additional opportunities for collaboration.
External financial research support ensures that our investigators can conduct groundbreaking, lifesaving research in medicine. Early stage research and pilot studies funding is a priority.
To support our PSBC Research Institute's growth, our state-of-the-art research facility in South Lake Union – the epicenter of Seattle's biomedical community – has been designed and engineered to meet the needs of our researchers, double our work area, and enable us to increase our staff and expand our research.
We are committed to supporting the development of technical and leadership skills among all research staff and facilitating and recognizing excellent contribution.
